Welcome to Term Four everybody!

Welcome to our new students and welcome back to all those returning.

We look forward to a lovely summer term of performance.

After two massive productions, our focus returns to skills building and personal growth.  It is time to work on our own abilities and grow as performers and communicators. This includes many of you sitting your Dance, Drama and Singing exams.

We have some exciting performance opportunities both in-house and within the wider community.  We will be performing at the Rangiora Show, 2 local events at the Town Hall and at our own Showcase and Christmas Break Up events.

No change to class times and days this term unless you have been personally notified or have switched classes.

We hope you enjoy your classes and all the things they offer you this term!

Congratulations Cast & Crew of The Happy Prince

This show was a first airing for our Rebekah Au’s script, and it certainly was a success with a few teary eyes in the audience at the sad bits!

This was also a first for many in our team, Elliott, Josh, Caitlin, Kyla and Casey all stepped out in their roles for the first time.  Plus it was the first time Grant and I were not there to oversee the pack in and first couple of rehearsals in the theatre.  I’d like to thank my amazing staff for making that run so smoothly in our absence, HSPA is lucky to have such a wealth of skill and personal confidence in its midst.

We are also grateful for all of the support we received from parents and senior students, we could not have done it without you all!  You are all part of a huge supportive family here at our school 😊

Well done to the cast.  The show was a credit to your teamwork and confidence along with your talent.  What a treat for our big crowds of family and friends!  You made us very proud!

The Happy Prince  Digital download

This is available for $10 + GST each on the portal.

This is an excellent idea if you did not get to see either of the shows!  WE will email all those who ordered this, the link to download just as soon as the footage is edited and credits etc are added.

PLEASE NOTE: Recording was taken at the Saturday Morning Show.

Costume Washing

If you took some washing home to do, thank you very much.  Please just drop this back to Dale at 17 Oakwood Drive once you have had a chance to do it.  No rush. You can leave it outside the door if no one is home.  Thanks to those who have already dropped off theirs!

Advanced Senior Specialty Classes

Last week of term we will be offering you guys a specialty class instead of regular lessons.  We are currently confirming the details of this.  But since many of you will not see each other again in a class setting, this will be a fun and collaborative way to end your year!

Trinity Speech & Drama Exams & Extra lessons

Those who entered last term are all set to sit their Trinity College exams this term.

There are extra exam sessions for those Junior, Intermediate and senior students (Not Advanced Seniors) who have entered for a Trinity exam.  You will have received an email with these times just this last week along with your exam entry slip.

Check that the exam time suits. If there is a problem with the exam time you have been given you must contact Dale immediately to organise any exam time switches.

DNZM & HSPA Tap Dance Exams and Extra lessons

Those dance students who opted for a HSPA Tap Medal test, or a DNZM Jazz, Hip Hop or Contemporary exam will be sitting these on November 16th.  Exact times will be sent out to you in the next week.

A timetable of two extra lessons for dancers sitting exams will be emailed this week to those entered. Please be sure to pop those times in your diary as they will cover important stuff and ensure you are polished.

HSPA Senior Showcase Event

In order to ensure we do not run too long at our Break up performance, we have created a new opportunity for Intermediate & Senior students to present their work.

This year we will be holding a Senior Showcase across Sunday 24th Nov afternoon and early evening.  This will include three performance sets (Drama, Singing & Dance) involving all of our Intermediate and Senior level students along with presentations from their tutors. Please note, the Drama performance will include senior pieces with some adult content.

It will be a great event to come and see some performance pieces in a casual setting, hear about what the classes have been working on, as well as enjoy some nibbles and drinks with each other before, between and after the presentations.

Expect further information about this event in the next two weeks!!

Xmas Break-Up Recital

Rangiora Santa Parade & Party in the Park

Sunday 8th of December

We will be taking part in this again this year and will produce a fun float for you all to be part of.  Please look out for information later in the term regarding volunteering and when you will need to be available on the day.

There will be singing and speaking opportunities for performers in the park after the parade.

Accounts from HSPA

We opt to send you full statements rather than an invoice of what is owing.   Due to the nature of a system where you can purchase items online at any time, my admin would constantly be producing invoices with a multitude of due dates for all of the various clothing items, show film, exam classes etc, that you are charged for.  This would be very time consuming and the cost would be passed on to you guys, the clients.  To prevent that cost, we opt to send statements at regular intervals so that you can still see your account balance even if you do not check your portal.

Please note – a statement will list all activity on your account, including charges that have been added and what payments you have made.

The important part is right at the bottom where it says what is still owing.  We urge you to open the statement to check the amount.

Let us know if you are not returning.

As per our Ts&Cs all enrolments roll over into the next term until the end of the year.  This will happen unless you inform us you are not returning.

What happens if you don’t tell us you are not returning?

·         We retain your spot and will continue to charge you for the class until you notify us.

·         If you do not notify us before the enrolments close for the term, you are liable for the entire term fees as we can no longer fill your space with anyone else from the waitlist.

We don’t like disappointing the kids on the waitlists and we know you don’t want to be paying for something you are not going to use.

So please notify us if you are not returning.

You can always remain in the system to be notified about future terms for when you may wish to come back again.

Lost Property

The lost property box has been emptied at the end of last term, it only retains some things left behind from the show.  Please check this regularly, there are always lots of lovely clothing items with no names on them.
