Hour long stage Musical production performed by Junior students from Hartley School of Performing Arts.  Great School Holiday activity especially for preschool and primary children.

The Happy Prince’s tale takes us back in time to discover the story of Fidel, the carefree and light-hearted Swallow with a love for travel and pranks. Having been foolish enough to fall in love with a river reed, Fidel has missed the chance to migrate south for the winter, so he takes shelter in the shadow of the beautiful, jewel-encrusted statue of the Happy Prince. Fidel discovers that the Prince is anything but happy. After living his life in ignorance of the poverty around him, the statue can now see all of the corruption that takes place in his city. He shares with Fidel some of the tragic stories he can see below him, involving a poor seamstress, a group of orphans and a little match-girl. Fidel reluctantly agrees to assist the Prince, who sets the swallow the task of stripping him of his fine gold and jewels in order to take them to those in great need. Happily these gifts make a great difference to the town, restoring hope and prosperity, but in the process Fidel succumbs to the cold of the winter.
Thankfully the story does not end there, as the now ugly Prince and the frozen Fidel are restored to life by the wish of a young girl, and everyone lives happily ever after.

The Happy Prince is brought to life with singing, dancing as well as Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop & Contemporary dance.  Performed by over 100 students aged 4-11yrs from the Junior Department of Hartley School of Performing Arts.
